Puppies

Some of our happiest and best-trained dogs are those that Sadie has worked with since they were puppies. By teaching good habits early on and customising the training to each individual puppy, we are able to prevent the development of bad habits and provide you with confidence right from the start of your journey. We understand that the adolescent stage can be challenging, and we are here to offer support throughout your dog's journey into adulthood.

After assessing your puppy's needs, we typically recommend twice-weekly walks. However, we will tailor the frequency of walks based on your puppy's age and specific requirements. Through our experience, we have found that puppies who have been trained by Sadie from the very beginning have remarkable recall skills, even in highly distracting environments. They are also well-behaved around other dogs, walk nicely on and off the leash, and have a strong understanding of commands such as "wait" and “stay".

Recall is taught from the very beginning, with dogs remaining on a lead at this point. If they pull, a head-collar is used, allowing us to maintain control. Head-collars can look a little daunting to some owners but rest assured, dogs get used to them quickly and when used correctly, they make a huge difference to a dog’s attitude. The next stage is to switch to an extendable lead or a trailing long line – once confident with the progress made, we will start to let them off. At this point, owners are invited to join the Saturday morning Dog-Social class or book in for one-to-one walks to begin the transferring of new skills we’ve taught your dog, over to you.
